September 21, 2018, "Tin Top Road"
Years ago, on a trip to Weatherford, Texas, they saw a sign that read "Tin Top Road" so they used that as the name of the band. All band members are from Fairfield, Texas except Dennis who is from Elkhart, Texas.
Steve Partain, banjo, guitar and vocals - New to bluegrass, but not new to the music scene. I spent several years singing in a gospel quartet and played rhythm guitar for church choirs and soloists. The bluegrass style of music became my passion after moving out of the city in 2003.
Kathie Partain, Mandolin and vocals - I've always been around music growing up. I started singing as a teenager, but discovered bluegrass about 25 years ago on a family vacation to the Ozarks. Picking up the mandolin in 2009 brought my attraction for bluegrass to a new level. I enjoy jammin' and performing with my husband, Steve. God is so good to allow us to have this passion we can enjoy together.
Clif Allen, Bass - I started keeping the beat playing the drums for my church youth group and while earning a degree at Texas A&M. Changing gears to Bluegrass, the bass was a natural fit for me. I especially like the beat of the newer Bluegrass styles. I am happily married to Katie, and together, we have a daughter named Anna.
Jeff Harrison, Dobro and vocals - I started playing bluegrass in the unlikely town of San Antonio, adding an obsession to an already developed love of early country, western swing, cowboy music and Hot Club jazz. The last 20 years, I've traveled the world with my Air Force Major wife, Beth, and now retired, it's great to focus on pickin', singin', and having fun with the group.
Dennis Conn, Guitar and vocals - Bands and fiddle contests backup are only part of the 40+ years of guitar pickin' and singing that I have shared. Gospel, country, bluegrass and even a little Texas swing are all part of my love for music. Bluegrass is my favorite and that enthusiasm comes out every time I get a chance to play.
