Bridgett Huffhines as Patsy Cline
Feb. 20, 2015 Bridgett is a Texas based singer/songwriter who?s moving lyrics and variety of musical tastes reflects in each of her songs. Her mother and father were musicians and her father was also a writer. Her first appearance on stage was at the age of 6, singing; ?I?ve got a brand new pair of roller skates?. She started singing in area churches with her mother when she was in her early 20?s. Her roots go deep in gospel music because of the passion her mother had for it. Bridgett says, ?For over 20 years, Mom sang to all the ladies that came into her beauty shop, sometimes I sang with her. I really think that was her ministry. I remember after mom had her stroke, the doctors told her she would never sing again. Well, needless to say, she was singing by the end of that year. She was my greatest roll model and my biggest fan.? In 1989 Bridgett started a country band called Southbound with her brother James Grisham (who played drums). They traveled 3 states singing and writing country music. The band fronted for, Willie Nelson, Lorrie Morgan, Pam Tillis, Jerry Reed, and Mark Chesnut just to name a few. The band split in 1993 and she moved to Nashville only to return home to Texas after 4 years with only a single song contract to show for it. She worked as a manager of a cellular business for 6 years, then turned her life and abilities over to the Lord and she has been singing and writing gospel and country music for the last 13 years. Until May 2004, Bridgett had been singing with a Women?s trio called Surrendered, whom she was with for almost 3 years. The trio released 2 CD?s with 6 of the songs released penned by Bridgett. The Music Association of Central Texas nominated the trio for Christian Group of the year 3 years in a row. Bridgett was also nominated M.A.C.T. top female vocalist 4 years running and songwriter of the year for 3. In 2004 the trio was blessed to receive the award for Christian Group of the year. They traveled around the Central Texas area and have shared the stage with Greater Vision, Mark Bishop, The Messenger Quartet, New Ground, Al Brumley Jr., The Dixie Echos, Haskel Cooley and others. Bridgett was a voice and writing teacher until 2006 and has CO-written many songs with some of her students. She is writing and serving the Lord with hopes to write, sing and spread the gospel through her songs on a much larger scale. Learning wisdom in the Lord is the most important lesson I have been taught. Singing, writing and music are the fruit of what I?ve learned. If I am fruitful, I am learning.
